26 February - 3 March
Dr Cristina Stefan travelled to Australia to expand ECR2P's collaborative agenda and international research partnerships.
In Brisbane, Dr Stefan mapped potential research collaborations with the Asia-Pacific Centre for the Responsibility to Protect (APR2P) and the Institute for Social Science Research (ISSR) at the University of Queensland.
She then visited Monash University to explore potential research partnerships with Professor Jacqui True, the Director of the new ARC Centre for Excellence for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.
2 March
Professor Adrian Gallagher was appointed onto the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FDCO), Mapping Conflict and Atrocity Group which held its first advisory meeting on March 10 2023.
6 March
Lucas de Belmont published an ECR2P Fresh Perspective blog, 'Atrocity Crimes in Brazil under Bolsonaro'.
7 March
ECR2P held a meet and greet with PhD students as part of the POLIS coffee and cake community event.
14-18 March
Professors Adrian Gallagher and Jason Ralph, and Drs Cristina G. Stefan and Helena Hinkkainen presented research relating to mass atrocity prevention at the International Studies Association Annual Conference, “Real Struggles, High Stakes: Cooperation, Contention, and Creativity”, in Montreal, Canada.
16 March
Professor Adrian Gallagher and Dr Cristina G. Stefan attended an expert roundtable on mass atrocity prevention hosted by the Simon-Skjodt Centre for the Prevention of Genocide at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. This event took place at McGill University, Montreal.
17 March
Professor Adrian Gallagher and Cecilia Jacob hosted an Editorial Board lunch for the Global Responsibility to Protect Journal at the ISA 2023 Annual Conference in Montreal.
19 March
Professor Jason Ralph recorded the lecture, 'Public learning resources: background lecture on current situation with International Criminal Court'. The lecture has been made available to the public in response to the ICC's recent decision to issue an arrest warrant for Russian leader Vladimir Putin for alleged war crimes committed in Ukraine since the Russian invasion on 24 February 2022.
23 March
Professor Adrian Gallagher supported Delphin Ntanyoma's application for a post-doctoral position based at ECR2P. The application is to the Rubicon programme.
30 March
Chiara De Franco, Christoph Meyer, and Karen E. Smith wrote a blog post for ECR2P's Fresh Perspectives series on the European Union and mass atrocity prevention.
31 March
Sabrina White submitted her PhD, 'On the Margins of Justice: Framing Accountability in a Victim-Centred Approach to Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse Perpetrated by UN Peacekeepers and Related Personnel, 1992-2021'. Sabrina's PhD has been supervised by Professors Adrian Gallagher and Emma Anderson.
